You need to dictate. It’s not your favorite thing in the world to do, but we try to make it as painless as possible by giving you a variety of choices. Select from any of the options below. If you like more than one, feel free to dictate using a combination of methods.

Phone - Our most popular method

Since phones are accessible nearly everywhere, they’ve become the preferred method of dictation for most clients. There’s no investment required to purchase any equipment and as soon as the dictator hangs up the phone, the dictation is immediately routed to the transcriptionist for typing. Telephone dictation offers all of the same convenience found with other recording devices like pause, rewind and fast forward.

Digital Recorder - The convenience of being mobile

Olympus DS-4000

Doctors who can’t be dependent on a phone line often prefer to dictate by digital recorder. When it comes to choice, MedGarde’s open standards dictation system offers plenty of options including Olympus, Philips, Grundig and Sanyo. Provided the device records in a compatible audio file format (.WAV, .DSS, .VOX, .MP3, .RAW, .G726, .OGG, .G721, .AVI, .MP2, .WMA or .DPF) and has software that will copy the audio files to a computer, it will likely be compatible with our system.

PC Dictation - All you need is a microphone

Olympus
DR-1000

If you prefer working at your computer, you’ll enjoy the convenience of dictating there as well. Dictation via microphone offers several advantages, including not having to busy a phone line. When it comes to choice of brands, doctors have plenty of flexibility. Dictate using your Philips, Grundig, Olympus or Dictaphone microphone directly into our system. What’s more, these microphones also work with MedGarde’s speech recognition technology. If you select a device with a barcode scanner, you can even capture demographics in the click of a button.

PDA - Cutting edge convenience

Pocket Author

MedGarde’s dictation software, Pocket Author, will install on any handheld PC that uses a Microsoft Pocket PC operating system. Its intuitive user interface is easily controlled via single-handed/finger-touch operation. All the familiar dictation features found on other recording devices are available with Pocket Author. Perhaps the favorite feature among dictators is Pocket Author’s patient scheduling integration feature. By simply syncing your handheld device with your PC, import days of patient schedules. Then, stop dictating patient name spellings, medical record numbers and other demographic information. What’s more, if your device is part of a wireless network, your dictation files will automatically transfer to MedGarde without requiring you to place the device in its docking station.

Tape Recorder - Tried and true

Tapes have long been a convenient way of capturing dictation. While other modern recording devices provide all of the same benefits as tape recorders, MedGarde can still transcribe from tapes if it’s the preferred mode of dictation.

Server - Preserve your existing investment

clinical dictation services

If you have a dictation system already in place and prefer to keep using the same system, we can develop an interface between your system and ours. Or, if you prefer, we can have our transcriptionists connect directly to your system to get the job done.
